Michael Armsons established the practice in 1972, to offer specialist quantity surveying expertise to private and public sector clients. The range of services has expanded to respond to our clients and the industry’s changing needs and now encompasses Project Management, Construction Cost Management and Building Surveying as our core services provision.
Our business ethos is to provide professional and innovative construction consultancy services for an increasing range of clients and their projects, in both the public and private sectors and in which we seek to exceed our clients’ expectations.

The founding Director of Armsons, Michael’s specialisms include cost planning, risk assessments, programming, contract procurement and project management. He is also experienced in preparing capital allowances claims and acting as bank monitoring surveyor.
Stephen Fernie joined Armsons in the role of Director in 1997. He is responsible for various schemes including educational, commercial, industrial and leisure facilities. His specialisms include funding applications, cost planning, PFI, contract procurement and project management / co-ordination.
He has overseen a number of high profile projects including the Joseph Wright Centre, Derby, Roundhouse re-development (a £50m regeneration scheme for Derby College) and various commercial / retail developments.
Ian has been a Director of Armsons since 2004. He was brought in to promote the further development of the practice and to provide cost and project management consultancy services in the commercial, healthcare, residential, industrial, retail and education sectors etc. Ian’s experience also extends to several years working overseas on major building and civil engineering projects.
